Default Next NZ visa step towards permanent residency?

    Hello all!

I'm just wondering what my next step into applying for visas is?

    VISAS:
Working holiday Visa - May 2015
Partnership-based temporary visa (work also) - June 2016 (12 Months Granted)

    Relationships:
    - De-Facto Partner is a New Zealand Citizen by birth
    • Together since May 2014
    • Lived together WITH evidence since May 2015

    - Child (DOB 8/4/16) is New Zealand Citizen by birth

Ultimately, I would love to have permanent residency. I have done some research and found that I need to have been with my partner for 5 years for PR therefore that is out of the question unfortunately for now!

I found that there is a residency partnership class visa which is granted for two years and so by that point I could apply for PR as we would been living together for 5 years.

So am I on the right track here?
    Is there a simpler way?

    Your help is much appreciated!!

    Thank you!

So you should be now applying for residence, which can be approved since you have already lived together for 12 months. Your residence visa is valid for two years, after which you can apply for PRV. As the partner of a NZ citizen, you are always eligible for a further residence visa, even if you don't meet PRV requirements, so long as you NZ partner continues to support that application.
