Specific Purpose Visa - Which Sub-Category

Hello All!

I am currently filling out a Specific Purpose Visa and I'm not sure which sub-category to choose.

My current organization that I work for (in the USA) are sending me over to NZ in 2017 to investigate what business prospects may exist over there. If all goes well, I'd likely be there for a couple years.

Some of the options seem to be for only 12 months, but one option is for up to 3 years. This longer-lasting option reads:

"Business people being transferred from one part of a multinational company to another in New Zealand"

Does that mean that our organization would need to have an established branch in NZ for me to apply under that sub-category?

Do you have any recommendations that I may be overlooking?

No , there does not need to be a NZ company. Generally the visa would be granted for the length of your assignment as per the information provided by your employer.
As with any temporary visa , the grant or length that the visa is granted for is a matter of discretion for the visa officer.
As per the instructions it may depend on whether you are "management" or "senior technical personnel"

Hello!

I have submitted my application for a 12-month, Specific Purpose Visa (People wishing to undertake business activities in New Zealand for
a period exceeding three months in one year). I submitted on 16 November and haven't heard anything. How long does a simple visa like this usually take? My employer is hoping to have me over there by February, which isn't leaving much time for me to get ready! I'd love to know how long a specific purpose visa would usually take.

I haven't seen anyone on the forum mention having this kind of visa before, so you may not hear from anyone with relevant experience.
