Shipping TVs to NZ from Canada

Hello there,
Can we ship our 2 TV's and stereo system to NZ knowing they will work fine or will there be problems with voltage/connectors/ cables and all those sorts of things? We have a 46in Samsung smart TV and 46in Toshiba TV and a Sony stereo receiver with Kardon speakers. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

First thing, do they have a voltage change switch?
Canada is 120v 60 hz
New Zealand is 230v 50hz

Flat screen tvs can easily be damaged in transit so if you need a transformer to run them will it be worth the risk to ship them?

Changing plugs is easy but big diffrences in voltage can be dearer to get around if the appliance is not multi voltage from new

I can't imagine a television wouldn't be multi voltage. You only need a plug adapter. I would double check on the stereo. It will say on the back.

The problem with the TVs isn't the electricity it is (probably) the tuner. Canada and the US use NTSC; NZ uses PAL. We shipped our bedroom LG TV from Canada, but it was unable to handle the TV signal from a digital box or free to air digital TV. The good news is that TV's here are not too expensive if you keep an eye on sales.

TVs should work as long as on the back of the TV it shows input voltage around 100 - 240 VAC (typically switch mode power supply). The TV tuner won't work in NZ so you'll need to use them in 'monitor' display mode and connect to an external set top box.

I've found stereos to be less accommodating to multi-voltage. Look on the back to see input voltage rating (ie. 100 - 240 vac)

IMO, best to buy in NZ
