    Default Bmi

If you're applying for a partner work visa and your BMI is high, can your visa be declined? No history of any illness, no diabetes, no blood pressure problems and don't have high cholesterol.

If the person has a high BMI, their medical will almost certainly be referred. High BMI is a problem for MAs because it CAN lead on to various areas of ill-health, so they almost all require extra tests and doctors' reports. If these come out clear, some then pass the medical as acceptable, but others don't. See here http://www.enz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=26174 this long thread about what one forum member's wife had to do to get through the medical for residence. If she hadn't done as asked, she would have been refused.

I read the thread. This couple was obviously not in NZ at the time of the medical. What happens if you are in NZ at the moment. Will you have to go back to your country and lose the weight then come back?

It depends - if the person is already on a visa in NZ while applying for another one, they have the right to stay there for the time being, and work on reducing, if that is what is required.
