Resident to Permanent Resident Visa

Hi guys,

My wife, my son & I have been NZ residents for over a year now. I am the only one working at the moment as my wife needs to stay home to take care of my son. Will it affect her permanent residence application if she doesn't have a job?

No, not at all.

For one thing, there is no requirement on a Resident to work during the time they are qualifying for a PR visa.

More importantly, it is the main applicant on the original Residence application under SMC who has to fulfil the conditions, and s/he does that on behalf of all the secondary applicants as well as her/himself.
