Please help-access time for application

Hi all.
Any ideas how long it takes for Immigration to access your application. My current WH visa expires on next Wednesday 9/11, and I have posted hard copy application for Visitor visa today.
Do you think my application will be accessed before Wednesday so I could be granted Interim visa in the meantime. What happens if not?

Thanks JandM. I hope you are right. I am just afraid they maybe won't open my envelope before Wednesday it's only few working days so...
