inz character issue for domestic violence
Hi Everyone
is there anyone have experience for character issue (domestic violence). been living in nz for 7 years never had any issue, but recently i had fight with my flatmate & police charge me for domestic violence. my first hearing in december its killing me psychologically and lawyer suggest me take police diversion, it meant, make my criminal record clean in court. but it may become my character issue for inz.
actually my work visa is going to expire soon so i canot wait for court decision because they may discharge me without conviction
Please
Thanks!!

It is hard to see from this http://www.police.govt.nz/sites/defa...eme-policy.pdf whether accepting diversion would mean that you have to formally admit that you committed the offence. The publicly available information from INZ does not make it clear if admitting an offence so as not to go to court is equivalent to having a conviction, which is a reason mentioned here http://onlineservices.immigration.go...nual/35058.htm for requiring asking for a character waiver.
I can tell you that this issue has not previously come up on our threads, so you're unlikely to find anyone sharing experience on this point.
