Can I claim my qualification points if I find a job unrelevant to my qualification?
I have a bachelor degree in engineering, but I found a marketing/sales job.

You can get the basic points, as described here. http://onlineservices.immigration.go...nual/30581.htm But you won't be able to claim any bonus points for qualifications or work experience (SM13 and SM 16 http://onlineservices.immigration.go...anual/6954.htm) if you're not using that skill in the NZ job offered.

I am sorry, it is still confusing. So, if I have NZQA level 7. I can get 50points as level 7, but I can`t get extra points. right?
SM7.10.5 Relevance of qualification(s) to employment
Qualifications are relevant to employment if:
the major subject area of the principal applicant's recognised qualification is directly applicable to the employment; and/or
an immigration officer is satisfied that the qualification was a key factor in the employer's decision to employ the principal applicant in that position.
Note: For the purposes of this provision, 'qualifications' must meet the requirements for recognition set out in SM14.5 (except where SM7.10.3 applies) but are not required to be the same qualification(s) that qualifies for points under the Qualifications part of these instructions (see SM14).
Thanks a lot for your explaination.
If so, I can ask my boss to add an explanation letter that he wouldn`t hire me if I did not have a bachelor degree .
Otherwise, I belive nobody can meet 160 points standard nowadays.
