Arrow Can I claim work experience points if I find a job relevant to my past work experience but Irrelevant to my qualification ?

I have over 7 years experience in purchasing but my bachelor in engineering which is irrelevant to my job.

Now can I claim work experience if I find a purchasing job which is neither relevant to my qualification.

If yes, how many points can I get?

    Thank you in advance,

    Regards,

Purchasing does not seem to be regarded as a skilled job http://skillshortages.immigration.go...asing-officer/. Unless the purchasing is in a specialist field. What kind of purchasing do you do?

In your place, I would search for an ANZSCO description http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@....0Version%201.2 that covers what you do, that is counted as a skilled job, which you can check with the link I gave before. Otherwise you can't claim.

It is a skilled job, it requires considerable expertise. my description might be too simple though.

Now, supposed it it skilled job and matching my past experience, but irrelevant to my qualification, does it work?

    Thank you.

If you find mention at ANZSCO of a skilled job that your responsibilities match with, there will be a description of the qualifications required, OR any number of years of work experience that will count instead of qualification. That's when you would be able to apply on the basis that you're doing a skilled job, for which you are qualified by your experience.

You would be able to claim the basic 'qualifications' points for having your original (irrelevant) degree. http://onlineservices.immigration.go...nual/42637.htm Check for other points here. http://onlineservices.immigration.go...anual/6954.htm

    Hi, Thanks for your help.

I have confirmed it, it is skilled regarding the job content.

But the problem is the salary is lower than the average level, and the boss is unwilling to increase it.

Will the CO still accept it as a skilled job and grant my work visa?

    Thank you so much.

A work visa, or residence under SMC? The requirements for either one are different.
