Default Fingerprinting for NZ Immigration, overseas

    Hi

Bit stumped. My parents, who live in India, require a fingerprint check for NZ Immigration from Australia, which only accepts fingerprints taken at "a local police station". No alternatives are given.

This is simply not an option in a corrupt, 3rd world country (and voluntary fingerprinting is not really a standard service on offer)! My dad went to 3 stations today, and was laughed away from each one. He said it would happen, but he went anyway, and my heart broke a little when I heard.

Has anyone been in a similar situation before? If so, what have you done?

    Thanks in advance, cheers.

    Hi there

    Your post is confusing
You say they are in India.
So where does Australia come in the picture, if you require fingerprint check for NZ Immigration ?
Moreover, whenever fingerprints are required for any visa application, the same will be taken by NZ high commission authorised Visa service provider in India

    Cheers

    Thanks for your reply!

I think it's because they lived in Australia briefly.. and you have to declare to NZ Immigration on residency applications where you lived in the past (5 or 10) years, and get police clearance (for which the fingerprints would be required) from those countries
