NZ Politics for Dummies
I'm making the move (from the US) in March. I'm not big on politics, but think I should know a few basics . . . like what are the big issues, what are the parties, how do they stand on the issues? Who are some leading figures whose names I should know? When I read newspaper articles, they mostly toss around names; I guess, expecting that the readers know the cast and no more than a name is needed. I mean . . . I know it's a parliamentary system, but I have no idea of what the tiers of government are and how power and money are distributed among them.
Can anyone suggest a quick-and-dirty primer on NZ politics that will make sense to people coming from abroad?
