Renting references

When you want to rent accommodation the landlord often asks for references - which is understandable. We have stayed in our own home for the last few years and therefore do not have any references when we move to NZ. How do I go about it when I am asked for references?

perhaps from your neighbour, saying that you are a very good neighbour, always help the community, THe house was always clean and tidy, etc etc.

Yes I also thought about asking a neighbour.

we had owned a home in canada for 10 years. brought a letter from the bank we had the mortgage with stating how long we had it for, and that we had no issues with lateness etc. I also got a letter from someone who had rented from us. it was fine, no problems
