Default My stationery car hit from behind at Signal-Next step ?

    Hi there

While I was waiting at a signal, A car. Hit mine from behind.
The bumper is bent and out of shape basically and will require replacement
None of the people have been hurt
    There were no witnesses

The other party agreed it wa s their fault and we exchanged numbers and car details

    I am insured with AA

I have never dealt with such a situation before
Can you please advise me the next course of action so that I am in the right side of the law ?

    Thanks for advising

Contact your insurer and give them the information you have.

    Hi there

    Just one more thing

In my insurance policy I have an excess of $500

As this was clearly the other party fault, I wouldn't be asked to bear it ?

    Thanks for advising

The AA will contact the third party to verify that it was in fact their fault. As long as the third party admits it, you shouldn't have to pay the excess. I would direct any further questions to the AA as they will know exactly what you still need to do. You may have to file a report with the police. Get back to the AA asap. They will also advise on what you need to do to get your car repaired and if you will indeed need to pay the excess.

    Hi,
If it is not your fault, then the other party report to their insurance company and gets a quote number. You just take the number from him and call your insurance company and give them the number. Your insurance company directly deal with the other and your car will be fixed without any cost.
    Cheers

    Hi there

    Thanks for all the advice.
AA Has agreed to pay 100% of my repair charges without any excess deductions and have permitted me to go ahead and get the repair done form one of their approved garages

I have a Honda Jazz and the bumper will need to be replaced.
I contacted Honda workshop, but they are not interested in such a small job as I presume it's an AA insurance payment, they can't pad up the bill

Anyways any recommendations on a garage where I can get the same done in Wellington ?
I am open to any location but would prefer if it is closer to CBD

    Thanks for advising
