    Default Urgent help please!!!

My case is: I just found out I'm pregnant,my partner(baby's father) is NZ citizen,I know our baby will gain citizenship by birth? Me and him are not going to get married, can I apply residency for myself through our baby? I know it sounds weird bcuz normally parents apply for residency or citizenship for their children, while I'm applying for it bcuz of my baby... any help would be appreciated,I'm very concerned what if I'm not able to stay with my baby :/ please help, thanks!

    Hi

Firstly congrats for baby. Such a great news

Just googled, you might wanna have a look to to apply for resident visa under partnership, have a look here for definition of partnership http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/Partner.htm

and link for partnership visa https://www.immigration.govt.nz/docu.../residence.pdf have a look at page 268 :-)

depending on what visa you on right now in nz or abroad.

Good luck and congratulations for baby

Hi,thanks for the info! I'll sure have a careful look into it,what I'm wondering is if I can apply for residency thru the baby not my partner? I just don't feel like asking him for things...

No, you don't have any rights at the moment because of the baby.

Do you live with the father? He will need to be named as the father for the baby to gain NZ citizenship automatically. https://www.dia.govt.nz/Services-Cit...sked-Questions Just for the baby to be born in NZ does not confer NZ nationality.

What visa are you on at the moment?

Hi - Maybe you and your partner might consider the status of a 'de facto relationship' - You don't need to get married - but you have to show that both of you had a Monogamous relationship and that you are living together as a couple on a genuine domestic basis

and you could be able to apply to a visa...

I was thinking the same. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...s-visa-holders For this visa, we know from experience that INZ take applications seriously that have around three months' evidence of living together. And here https://www.google.co.uk/#q=site:enz...tnership+proof are old threads with discussion and examples of what can be used as that evidence.

I know you say you don't feel like asking him for things, but as you're having his baby, if he doesn't help you out with this, and whatever visa you have at the moment can't easily be renewed, he could be faced with seeing you have to leave NZ.
