Default Silver Fern Visa - Criteria of 2 years WE

Hello all! I am taking my first step into trying to move to New Zealand, but everything seems really bleak for me as I do not fulfil certain criteria here and there. I am also taking time to digest all the different visas that are available, and boy it is a HUGE list.

I am currently a photographer in Singapore, and I am looking at the Silver Fern Job Search Work Visa... However, I am only employed for a year now and the next slot will open at end 2017 (then I will still not be able to fulfil the 2 year working experience criteria needed for this visa).

I intend to head over once my 2 year contract with my current employer is up, but at the time of application I don't meet the criteria, but I will at the end of the contract. Does this mean this visa is a no-go for me?

Sorry to be writing something you do not want to see...

When filling in an application for INZ visa, you can't claim for anything that hasn't happened yet. All applications are legal documents. By submitting, you are affirming that everything on them is the truth, and you can't say that about something you intend WILL BE true in the future.

Also, there are many examples of honestly held intentions which don't work out - the person who knows he will pass his final exams, so he will be a graduate by (whatever) date, only he breaks his ankle on the steps of the exam hall and doesn't get to take the exam, or the person who is sure he'll have the points for 10 years' work experience at the end of next month, except that the boss calls him in this afternoon and says he's very sorry, but the business has failed and he's out of work as of now.

So you can't apply for a Silver Fern visa the next time it is offered. You would have to wait till the following year.

Thank you so much for giving me the heads up; appreciate the honesty here as I won't be wasting my one and only chance for this visa on a wrong time. It's alright, I won't sweat it for now. I will go through the other visas and see what I can do.. I'm utterly confused with all the visas that are eligible.

Good luck. I hope you find something that will help. You're always welcome to ask questions - it helps if you give a link to whichever page you haven't found clear.
