so there's people driving round out ther without insurance??
And unfortunately, the people driving around without it are often the ones who should have it. I wouldn't dream of driving without insurance, and neither would any of my friends or family in NZ. When I was doing my nursing training I drove an old banger so I had third party, fire and theft. My Dad raised me to believe that is the responsible way to live. Not all Kiwi drivers are irresponsible.

But unfortunately this is the same as in the UK. The only difference is that in NZ they're uninsured and legal, and if they do bodily harm to you at least you have some cover via ACC. In the UK they're uninsured and illegal, and if they do you damage you're up a gum tree.
