Default Airport Immigration process for first entry residency visa?

    Hello all,

I have had my AIP letter for Residency visa through partnership.

My question is - what is the process when first entering NZ and showing the visa to the immigration officer in the airport?

Do they question you on things like where you are staying, who your partner is, where they are, etc? or is it all fairly straightforward?

    thank you in advance.

    Congratulations!

I have been granted my Resident Visa in February and shortly after travelled overseas for one week. For me, the entry process was very easy and straight forward. You can take the NZ Citizen/Resident Line and the only thing the officer said upon entry was "Welcome back home".

No - all the checking about who you are and your right to be there is accepted as having been done because you HAVE your resident's visa. And yes, most Immigration officials say, 'Welcome home,' when they see that visa being used for the first time.
