Default Partner of a Worker Work Visa for 30 months - eligible for public health care or not?

My wife wants to apply for a "Partner of a Worker Work Visa" for the duration same as my work visa of 30 months.

Would she be eligible for public health care or not? According to this link she would be: http://www.health.govt.nz/new-zealan...-years-or-more wouldn't she?

Correct - And most company's offer private health insurance to employees... and you both can have access to private and public health care...

Everyone here in NZ is cover by ACC http://www.acc.co.nz/

Cool, cool. So we would be all covered by public health insurance.

I'm really not sure how much the public health care system is able to provide. Would it be advisable to also have private health insurance? How would it be better, generally speaking? The company I'd be working for has a discount programme for a health insurance called "Southern Cross Group Scheme". I don't know how much of a discount they provide though. For their Premium UltraCare plan I would pay $4200 annually which would cover the whole family. Is it worth it?
