Bit Confused! Partneship Resident Visa

Following this Forum since ages!!
Jandm you are doing great job!!

I have applied Resident Visa in Feb 2017. Since then I haven't heard anything from them. Friday I rang immigration and came to know that Immigration officer has been assigned on 27th March but I haven't recieved my passport and documents back. Usually they send our passports and documents back before our case is allocated to any Immigration officer.
Would really appreciate any advise or comment

If you want/need your passports etc. returned to you, you can ask for them. It's no problem.

But is it normal for them keep the passport and other documents?
Or it means that they are busy? And its going to be more delay in the processing time?

It doesn't mean anything in particular. Sometimes in the past, documents have been retained and all sent back together when the passport has had the visa label put in it. These days, it's more usual that things are sent back when they have been ticked off as seen, and some have been scanned into the system. But that's not in 100% of cases.

I don't recommend trying to make every little thing that happens into a clue as to what will occur next, or how quickly or slowly. INZ will deal with your case, as efficiently as they can. If they need more information, they will ask you. Mostly, they won't be in touch for long periods of time, and that is perfectly normal. Just let them get on with their job.

They returned my passport and original documents to me after one month of submitting my application
February I applied for resident partnership visa until now no response from my visa officer

Just an update!!
My resident visa got approved today just in two months without any communication.
