Default Renewal of Partnership based work visa

    Dear JandM,

    Good day,

I am preparing for the renewal of my partnership based working visa. I want to prepare ahead so that everything will be fine..
    I have questions though:

    1. As per the article that i read my partner should have atleast 6 months allowance in his visa for me to apply. For example: our visa will end December 9, 2017 ( both of us- currently in new zealand) our plan is to re apply on October 2017. Is there anything that i need to be worried about?

Please give me advice for us to prepare.

    Thank you

This visa is for you if...

… you want to come to New Zealand to work while your partner is here on a work visa. Your partner’s work visa must be for more than 6 months for you to apply.

Will i let him file earlier? And once the visa is out i will file my application before the expiry date..

    Or can we file together?

I read this as meaning that the partner's work visa must have a total validity of at least six months, not that there must be six months of it left.

    Looking on this date:

    Visa expiry: December 9, 2017

Target renewal date for both of us: October 9, 2017

(2 months grace period before expiry)

Will there be any conflict if this is the case?

Should i let him file early first? Or we can file on the same time?

You can file at the same time, linking the applications with a covering letter. INZ will treat it as one case, supplying what you don't know at the beginning, like his visa number, as the information becomes available.
