    I'm from the US, look European, living in a small town in South island. People have a variety of prejudices here, thought rarely expressed publically and for the most part, willing to set aside if they get to know you. The biggest negatives are probably towards the Tongan migrants who come to do agricultural (vineyard) labor. Poor, dark skin, not fluent with English, etc. I suspect an Israeli would encounter more curiosity than prejudice... though if you're looking for a synagogue, you're in for a LONG drive.
