    Default 13.6 Amperes

    Hello everyone.
Iam really glad for this great forum so let me please thanks to the author in my first post. :-)

My question is about electricity in new zealand. Ive already searched the forum and found that new zealand sockets provide mostly 10amp of current. I've bought commercial machine from US which says on 120volts it makes 1636watts which brings me to result of 13.6amps (W = V x A in another words A = W / V).
Iam going to buy volt converter for sure, but do you think that I can struggle with the amperes?

Thanks for answers and have a great day.

No. When you double the voltage you halve the current (as per W=VI) for the same wattage, so it will only draw about 7A at 240V
