Default Essential Skills vs Work to Residence helppppp

    Hi
My partner currently holds an Essential skills work visa. With the rules, he cannot apply for Variation of Conditions -- though same profession, he is changing his employer and location moving from Auckland to Hawkes Bay. Registered Nurse (Medical) is also stripped off from LTSSL.

Now, with his new job offer (same profession, just different location and different DHB), can he apply for Work to Residence: Accredited Employer type of visa? Or do we file for another Essential skills type of work visa??

He matches the checklist (Work to Residence) from what I have read. He starts work on the new hospital 2nd week of June. He ends his stint in Auckland 1st week of June.

    New job offer:
Permanent job -- 72 hours per fortnight
With Accreditation Certificate from the DHB

    What to do??

    Thanks

If he qualifies for WTR, why not just apply for SMC resident visa?

Work visa is priority.. resident one will take time and he needs to be here to work.

It depends whether the new employer is Accredited or not. You have to have an Accredited employer to get a WTR visa, if the job is not on LTSSL. Look here http://onlineservices.immigration.go...st.htm?level=1, or just ask the new DHB, because not all employers put their names on that list, since it tends to get lots of people asking if there are jobs even when they're not advertising.

Thanks J&M! The DHB he will be working with is accredited, they got us their certificate of accreditation. It's just that when I asked our former agency for advice, it told us to still file work visa under Essential Skills. Confusing...

Called Immigration awhile ago, said they wouldn't mind if he had an Essential Skills and now applying for Work to Residence: Accredited Employer. Right??

    Thanks

Right - if it's an accredited employer, he can go for WTR. All the best.
