    Default PR for Dependant Child

    Morning All

Recently added a new Spungun to the family. Currently off-shore and I'm wondering if I can apply for his PR visa without being in the country? I had planned to bring him in on a visitor visa and convert once back in Auckland but it looks like that might be a few months yet so it would one less thing to do if I can do it now.

    Cheers
    Spudgun

Is it this visa https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...-visa#criteria you're looking to get for your new addition? (I haven't heard of being able to go directly to PR.) If so, looking at the INZ Office and Fees Finder, it looks as though you can apply from overseas. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...nd-fees-finder

Thanks JandM. The eligibility criteria shows you have to be physically resident to apply so that answers my questions :-)

Mmm... I wonder. I imagine that at the moment, you're on an extended visit away, but you would consider your home to be in NZ? There is sometimes a bit of confusion with 'resident' on those lines. The criterion does say 'primary place of residence'.
