Default Talent (accredited employer) work visa -> Changing employer

    Dear All,

Does anyone have experience with changing of an employer under talent (accr.empl.) visa?

The new job offer would have/be:
    - better salary
    - out of Auckland
    - same profession

But! The new employer is not an accredited one at the moment and probably for them it's not worth to become. Is there any possibility to just keep the original talent visa with a variation in conditions? The profession is not in any shortage lists at the moment. Probably not good for Skilled Migrant too.

Any experience in this field would be appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Linda

No, you won't get granted a variation of conditions to continue on the same visa if the new employer is not accredited. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...r-someone-else

Be careful about trying to go to a job that isn't in the shortage lists. INZ are in the process of consulting about not granting long-term visas, particularly ones like yours which could lead on to residence, for jobs for which NZers are available. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/abou...-work-settings

Thanks JandM! Of course don't want to go on an essential skills work visa which has so much worse long-term conditions and benefits.

The funny thing is that the company who would like to give the job offer, cannot find NZ (or even WH visa person) for the position for some months now. Should be on the list, but unfortunately no.

That's the situation where an Essential Skills visa would readily be granted, because the employer would be able to show they had advertised without success, but the situation wouldn't lead anywhere for the applicant in the long term, not with the changes they're thinking of bringing in.

Thank you! The company will go to immi office and they will ask about the chances and probably the accreditation too. Have a great day JandM!
