Default Visa options for partner of NZ citizen

    Hi All,

My friend is a NZ citizen got married in another country, stayed there with his wife for 3 months and returned to NZ. Then his wife applied for partner based visa but she was granted a general visiting visa for 9 months stating that since her application was considered as genuine and given a chance to live together with his partner (return ticket was not requested for the entry into NZ). What are her options now for living together with her partner for ever in NZ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

She would now need to collect evidence that the couple are living together. See old threads for discussion and examples. https://www.google.co.uk/#q=site:enz...tnership+proof When they have two to three months' good evidence, she could apply for a partner-sponsored temporary work visa. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...s-visa-holders (This does not mean that she HAS to work, just that she would be allowed to work, at any job, skilled or not, if she wants to.) Then, when they have 12 months' good evidence (including the first lot), she could apply for a partner-sponsored Residence visa. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...-resident-visa Notice, she would need to keep collecting evidence all the while from now until the residence visa is granted, because INZ commonly ask for more evidence to cover the time of processing of each visa, just before they grant it. And it's a good idea to keep copies of all the evidence sent in in the first place, because this will make it easier when applying for the second visa, which is unlikely to be dealt with by the same CO, or necessarily in the same INZ office. Some of the evidence may have been scanned into the computer, but it's much easier for the CO doing the processing to be able to see paperwork (labelled to say where the originals are from the previous application).

If this lady goes through all that process, so she becomes a NZ resident, after two years living on that visa, she may have qualified for the Permanent Residence visa. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...anent-resident

Are you able to say what information was included about their relationship in the partner based visa application?
