Default Essential Skills Visa parallel to Skilled Migrant Category (SMC)

    Hi Everyone.

Just want to ask if anyone here who experienced applying Essentials Skills Visa (ESV) while waiting for ITA or SMC decision.
1.) Can I already apply ESV once my EOI is selected (no ITA) yet? Planning to lodge EOI on October after taking IELTS in Sept. end.
2.) What are the options of my partner (student visa Level 8) and my children (student visas) while waiting for my ESV?

Btw, all our visa expires end of this year.

    Thanks to all.

    1. Yes, but notice the regulations about the labour market check for ESV, which you would probably not have to do if your ITA had been issued.

    2. What visas are you, and they, on at the moment?

    Hi JandM,

Thanks for the reply. So even if my EOI is selected I still need to wait for the ITA, for it (ESV) to have no more labour market check?

I am on open work visa based on partnership right now. My partner and kids are all on student visas.

    WK2.5.15 here.https://onlineservices.immigration.g...nual/45676.htm

Your partner can apply for a partner-sponsored temporary work visa, to match your ESV for length of time. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...k-visa-holders

Your children can apply for student visas, likewise to match your ESV for length of time.

The family applications can go in at the same time as yours, linked with a covering letter, and INZ will work them all as once case, supplying information you won't have at first, such as your visa number, as it becomes available.

Thanks again. It's getting clearer and clearer now. Just have follow-up questions.

Does anyone here in the group that have a sample covering letter?
If we are going to apply on-line, is it possible to attach the covering letter? Or we do the application offline?

Thanks for sharing and for the reply.

You can't apply for a partner-sponsored work visa online. (Some visas you can, some you can't.) So you would send the covering letter with it.

There is no set formula. You just tell INZ who your partner is, and where and when they applied for what, and that you want to link your application to theirs.

Hi JandM, how much is the proof of fund requirement here. I am already working here in NZ since Feb 2017 and my wife is also working part time while studying. Thanks for the reply

There is no set amount. If you look at the Criteria section of the fact sheet https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...lders#criteria, it says, "You don’t need to provide any evidence unless we ask you to." It's very unlikely that they will, because they know you're already here, working.
