Default Residence and paying for partner's ESOL

    Hi All,

I was granted residence and had to pay ESOL tuition for my partner and she has 5 years to take classes.

My question is: if she not does take those ESOL classes in the first two years, are we still able to apply for permanent residency?

    Thanks!

I have not seen this topic come up before. I think you may have to check with INZ.

Is there anything in the AIP paperwork about this being a condition of her Residence? Because the requirements for PR https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...anent-resident include having "met any conditions of your Resident visa."

Sorry, don't know if I can ask an additional question here in this thread. If not I can open another one. The question is for my son for whom we also need to pay ESOL Tuition.
The 5 years to take classes start from the first landing in NZ under residence visa or from the date the visa is granted ?
And for how long do the ESOL classes last ? Is it an intensive class within a few weeks or will it be like a whole year ?
    Many thanks in advance

https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...zealand/slider It looks as though it varies according to their existing level of English. I suggest Googling for INZ-approved ESOL classes - there are probably more details on the websites of the providing colleges.

I assume that the five years would be from activation of the visa upon entry, like travel conditions, but I can't see that mentioned anywhere.

Ok just googled as suggested by JandM and I found this, which could be of help to others.

List of approved courses providers throughout NZ :
    http://tec.govt.nz/funding/funding-a...rant-learners/

And for the Wellington area where we will settle we have this :
    http://tec.govt.nz/assets/Forms-temp...Wellington.pdf

So the length of the courses depends on how intensive we want it to be and a big variety of options is available (from 2 hours per week for 39 weeks, to as much as 21 hours per week during 12 weeks)
These are just examples so it will all depend on the tests score at IELTS test.

Thanks for the reply "JandM". There is nothing on AIP and blue stickers mentioning it. Only the usual travel restrictions.

Well, that's good. Then in your place I would still check with INZ, but my guess is that it's not going to be a hindrance.
