    Default Wait for outcome?

    Hi JandM,

I would really appreciate your advice on my situation. So currently my essential works visa was declined due to some error in my contract relating to the job description. Now I am wanting to reapply and visa expires in another 10 days I know I will receive an interim visa but in case my visa is declined then my status will change to unlawful and I am very worried about that. Should I leave back to my home country before the outcome or should I wait and in case declined then return and apply.

If I become unlawful will that affect my profile and negatively affect my applications to NZ and other countries in the future? Thanks I await for your kind response.

It is not unlawful to apply, then wait on an interim visa to get the outcome. If you were to get declined, INZ would give you time to leave. This would not count against you.
