Unhappy INZ Closing Down its Overseas Branches

    Hi all,

There is a news regarding the plans to close overseas INZ offices including London's branch so it is expected that staff would lose their job.

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/ar...ectid=11923590

I was wondering what would happen to those applications which are getting processed in London Branch?

Is it a good idea to email CO to ask about that?

    Thank you

Obviously INZ may move those applications to centers which are retained. It is understood.
It is never ever a good idea to ask CO about something which you saw in some website. It is unwanted until you hear about it from INZ.
CO is not your "friend", CO is an official who works based on the INZ ops manual.

    I completely agree with farfaraway.

There are often news stories about things which *may* happen. They cannot be taken to be true unless and until a formal announcement is made by the NZ government, or INZ itself, which will be here. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/abou...-notifications

In any case, applications which are already being processed when any change comes in continue to be worked according to the rules which WERE in force when they were lodged. And also, it has been the case for many years that if any particular INZ office got very busy, overloaded with work, files would be moved to any other office which had some spare capacity. So there is nothing unknown in what will have to happen if this proposed change goes through.

INZ have a well publicised plans to repatriate most decision making onshore. However, as the article also says that is over a three year period, between now and 2020, as they move more to online applications.
There are no plans for London to close in the near future that I am aware of.
