Question How do INZ check qualifications?

Like INZ email previous employers to double check the work experience details, do they email universities also? Because most universities would not respond to third party requests without seeing a request from the students themselves, so any idea how do COs handle this especially since the applicant is always in the dark as to what is happening.
    Thanks!

Yes, they do contact universities, colleges or whatever for confirmation of the applicant's previous attendance, qualification awarded, etc., and yes, the university does reply to INZ. You are (obviously) not allowed to be involved in the verification of your own qualification, for instance by contacting the university and prompting them.

Thanks, JandM. Would this verification be done even if there's an IQA report attached? Technically, the IQA reports already require verification to be done as a part of the process.

NZQA and INZ are looking for different information about the qualification. NZQA is checking the content of the course, its level, depth, and time studied, and whether or not there is a NZ course currently running to which it can be said to be comparable. INZ is asking if the applicant was indeed a student at that institution between the declared dates, what courses s/he followed regularly, and whether s/he did gain that qualification at the end of their study. Bluntly, NZQA says, 'What is this certificate worth?' and INZ says, 'Does this qualification really belong to this applicant, or is it fraud?'
