Hello everyone,

Have never done it before but am thinking of buying a section of land and building a house either in the western suburbs of Christchurch, Rolleston or Lincoln. Any views from the members? What are the important elements that I need to think about before committing to such a big investment?

Also, spoke to a builder, Trident Homes (This is a franchisee in Christchurch). Does anybody have any experience with this builder? Seemed to be a smaller builder, not in the likes of GJ Gardner or Signature Homes.....Heard about some horror stories of builders not getting the appropriate consents/certifications or going under leaving the house half completed.....
