Default Claim work experience - 2 different jobs and 2 different qualifications

    Hi everyone,

I'm asking on behalf of my friend, who is trying to apply for residence under SMC.

So he studied a LV 7 qualification in ICT back in 2013 in New Zealand. After that he had been working as an IT technician for 10 months in 2014.

Unfornately the job ended and he had to study a LV 5 qualification in Cookery in 2015. After he finished the course, he had been working as a chef in Auckland for 14 months (and still counting) under an employer-assisted work visa.

    He has two questions:
    1) Can he claim both qualifications for SMC?
    2) Can he claim a total of 24 months work experience for SMC?

    Any opinions are highly appreciated.

    Thank you!

I'd like to hear what ChrisMwn thinks on this one.

Chris, the man has done two stints of qualified work in NZ, in different careers. Can they be added together, to get him to the two years' work experience threshold for 10 points? Or must the two years' experience be in the career he is following now?
