Section 49 / change jobs

I'm asking this question for a friend.

He is a chef. He applied SMC at a different job but then he got another offer and changed during the process, letting INZ know about the change. He got his residency approved but with Section 49 on it. (stay in the same job for 3 months). Unfortunately before he could complete that 3 months his workplace closed down. He found another job immediately with another permanent contract.

Now in that case, what should he do? Can he get the section 49 removed after completing 3 months in his new job? Should he let INZ know about the change now?

He absolutely must let INZ know about the change. In fact, he should have told them about the original employer having closed down in the first place, before starting the new job.
