Default Skilled Migrant Advice - job not on skill shortage

The job of a graphic designer is not on the skill shortage lists - however, with an excellent job offer would it be possible to pursue a visa via the Skilled Migrant route?

The vital end point is to achieved permanent residence and ultimately citizenship - would SM be the best option for a skilled Senior Graphic Designer - or would you suggest a different route?

Anyone any experience or advice welcome - thanks!

I assume this is for someone else?

    Forget LTSSL

With a job offer outside Auckland, that's 80 points with 20 more if the hourly rate is above $48.58 / (160 points required for EOI selection.)
Age , qualification and/or work experience points should easily make up the difference?

    many thanks Chris

    that was my reading too!

yes it's not for me - trying help someone else negotiate the move

So it seems to me if I understand correctly if you have a skill (even though it's not of the SSLs) you can go via SMC so long as you can achieve (pref. comfortably) above 160+

    Anyone advise against this?

    thanks

No need for comfort. 160 is all that is required.
Typically an under 30 year old, with a skilled job offer, qualified and experience would have no issues in amassing the required points.
