This is wrong on so many levels. Its actually true, I am indeed having anxiety issues now. I too applied under ICT Support Specialist
My current work visa will be expiring in March.
SMC is pending since 8 months now / CO says he is taking internal advice on my application...
I have already applied for Essential skills visa in first week of Jan'18 / no update since I applied, almost 35 days now
My question is what happens, if my Essential skills visa is not approved...do I leave NZ even though if my SMC is processing?
If I leave NZ, what happens to my SMC? the points I got for having a job and living in NZ? When I applied back in June'17 I had 220 points. I wont be able to get these many points if had to reapply.
Urrgghh so many questions.
You have applied for an Essential Skills visa, so, whatever happens about your SMC application meantime, if the Essential Skills processing has not been completed by the time your existing visa expires, you will be issued with an Interim visa https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...a/interim-visa in order to keep you legally in NZ while the processing is completed. (INZ can only do that for applicants for any kind of temporary visa, not residence.) So there is no question of your being required to leave the country, etc..
What visa are you on at the moment?
Hi JandM, I am on the post study employer assisted WorkV. expiring in March'18
I am afraid that my Essential Skills visa will be declined mid March (for any reason).. if that happens what options am I left with...
As far as I know, the SMC will be put on hold.. pls advise if I am correct
It is correct that if you were refused a visa to continue in your present job, your application for residence would come to a stop. INZ don't immediately throw out an SMC case in those circumstances: what normally happens is that they give the applicant some time to see if they can get another skilled job, the details of which could then be fed into their SMC application.
The application for ANY visa depends on the applicant meeting all the requirements given on the INZ website and in their operational manual. Do you have any serious reason to think you don't meet the requirements? - or is this just panic? You must LOOK as if you have a good case, or you would not have received an ITA for your SMC application.
If you don't have a serious reason to doubt, you are letting your mind torture you with 'what if?' questions. Everyone with an application to INZ gets like this at times. The waiting is very difficult to live through You must try not to let this worry happen, for the sake of your health. Every time you find yourself thinking about INZ, force yourself to think about something else instead - something in your real life, something useful to do.
Thanks JandM, I don't any serious reason to think my visa will be declined. I guess I am just overthinking.
Hopefully this ends soon with a positive outcome.
I pray to god it becomes easy for all of us.
