Question application for partnership visa possible when renting a room only?

    Hello!

My friends live in a shared house. They are not the principal renters of the place; several other people and the landlords live with them. The place is great - large house, and just all nice people in the house.
As they really would like to stay in NZ now, and are just figuring out how to apply for a work partnership visa combination, they are thinking about how to prove that they live together. There are obviously no utility bills in their name, - they could just get a contract for renting the room together.

They now even think about moving into a rented house, just for being able to provide a proper rental contract and electricity & water bills.

Is it really that strict? I have read that INZ does not accept "flatmate situations" (https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...ly/partnership). Does anyone have negative or positive experiences with that?

    Thanks!

The couple would need to provide testimony from the other people living there that they have a private (sleeping) area ONLY available to the two of them within the shared house, that is, they're not just two people who both happen to rent accommodation in the same place. They would also need plenty of other evidence of partnership - see discussion and examples on these old threads. https://www.google.co.uk/search?sour....0.PEY6RJnexjc
