    Default Remuneration

Hi , My Salary as per agreement is $47000 p.a and plus $300 on call taxable weekly allowance . I work 37.5 hours a week. On call is nothing but supporting my clients during evenings and weekends. Its continuation of my work that i do during the day. The hours may vary. My points are 160. Am i able to apply under SMC with the above threshold. Would really need your help.

What is your job? This can make a difference. What does your hourly rate work out at? https://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsm...c.htm?6954.htm

It seems as though your job is here http://skillshortages.immigration.go...-administrator in the INZ skills checker and http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@....ty+Specialists ANZSCO, if you have the required qualifications and/or experience.

It is a Skill Level 1 occupation, so SM6.10.5 says you need "$24.29 per hour or above (or the equivalent annual salary)". https://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsm...c.htm?6954.htm It looks to me from SM6.20 as though, if you add on your on call allowance, you would meet that threshold.

ChrisMwn, does that seem right to you, please?

Hi JandM , yes my job is listed there. Thanks for that. I was doubtful about adding the on call allowance before. And also my hours 37.5 would it make a difference or do they need 40 hours ?i have a link that i found https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/tools-and-information/work-and-employment/employment-skill-bands/employment-skill-bands-for-essential-skills-work-visas . It says paid by salary is divided by 40 hours. Can you please assist.

INZ regards any job as full-time if it is for 30 hours per week or above, so there is no problem for you on your 37.5 hours

About the link you've found - 1) that is about the Essential Skills Visa, not residence under SMC, and you always need to make certain you are looking at regulations for the correct visa, because they vary, and 2) this
Paid by salary for a set number of hours per week eg. $55,000 per annum, 40 hours per week

Salary divided by the number of hours worked eg. $55,000 / 52 weeks / 40 hours per week = $26.44 per hour
is just an EXAMPLE, saying IF a worker is getting $55,000 dollars a year for 40 hours' work per week, then IN THAT CASE, the hourly rate would be worked out by dividing the $55,000 by 52 then by 40. (If he got that money for working some different number of hours a week, then they would divide by that number instead of the 40.)

Hey JandM, also i missed to query in regards to the qualification. Since my job falls under Skilled level 1 . It requires either qualification or 5 years experience as per the INZ rule. I have the oversees bachelor qualification not yet assessed by NZQA. But i have only 3 years experience. Is that okay ? Or it has to be 5 years experience.

If you don't have a qualification found suitable by NZQA assessment, then you have to have the five years' experience instead. You will have to submit your qualification for assessment before you put in your EOI, to see if it is usable.

The calculation of the hourly rate is affected by the number of hours stipulated in the contract. So the calculation might be 52000/52/40 , or 52000/52/37.5, or 52000/52/30 or more. The allowance does not form part of the salary or calculations.

So in your case, 52000/52/37.5 = $26.44 per hour as J and M calculates.
So that's above the skilled threshold of $24.29 an hour
