Default partnership residence visa- living apart

hi everyone, i am just about to apply for residence visa under partnership.

on the immigration website, it says that we have to provide evidence during any period of seperation. what if one of us went away to visit parents for a few days from time to time. do we have to tell immigration and provide evidence in this case. thank you

No, that's not necessary. They're only talking about cases where one partner has to spend substantial amounts of time away from the joint home, for instance, if travelling because of their work, or studying based in another town (or even country).

The intention behind requiring couple's who have been apart for any substantial length of time during their relationship to provide details and evidence is that long periods spent apart could be detrimental to the stabililty of a relationship - so only if a couple has spent weeks or months apart are they required to provide evidence of how they made efforts to maintain their relationship during those times (so that INZ can see that, even though the couple were geographically separated, their relationship didn't suffer as a consequence).
