    Question Pay Rate Confusion

    Hi everyone,

    ChrisMwn, JandM Please attention!

Asking on behalf of my friend. Let Suppose: If my friend has got a salary of $51000 with a 50 hours contract and he falls under skills migrant category.

    1) How will immigration calculate his salary?

    Scenario 1: $51000 divide by 52 weeks = 980.76 divide by 50 hours = $19.61
Scenario 2: $51000 will come under the new threshold. Will they divide by 50 hours or 40 hours?

If he gets $51000 salary, would it be possible for immigration to consider it without calculating hourly?

The regulations explain this in detail, and the following is the part that answers your friend's question.

    SM6.20 c. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsm...c.htm?6954.htm
If the employment agreement specifies payment by salary, the payment per hour will be calculated by dividing the annual salary by 52 weeks, followed by the number of hours that will be worked each week.

    Hi Silent,
INZ will calculate the hourly pay of your friends following the working hours stated in his/her contract.
The correct example is the first one you did, but with that hourly rate the work will be assess as low-skilled,so he/she can't apply for residence under the skilled migrant category visa.
