Default Bringing household items and car on a work visa ?

    Hi All,
We are hoping to be able to get a work visa - hopefully an Essential skills visa initially, and then a SMC visa.
Does anyone have any advice on bringing our furniture in a container over and possibly our car on these visas ? Reading some of the articles it appears we may have to be permanent residents, before we can do this ?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks bob

Not sure that's helpful- we came over in 2005 on a student visa for one year (husband) and visitor visas (for the rest of the family) and brought all our belongings in a container with us.
There wasn't any issue at the time.

You can bring in all your possessions (if legal), and if you meet the requirements of timing, etc., as a migrant arriving with residence or a work visa running at least a year, you are entitled to customs/tax concessions. https://www.customs.govt.nz/personal...ects-vehicles/ And check that your car will be suitable. https://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicles/importing-a-vehicle/
