    Default Parents applying for PR under (Parent Category Tier 1)

    My parents will be 5 years next year living in NZ - ( resident visa - Parent Category 1) + (s49 of the Immigration Act 2009). May I know the criteria to qualify them to apply for PR ?

    It's here. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...anent-resident The requirements are the same as for anyone who got their residence under SMC or through partnership. The noticeable difference for parents under the family stream is the five years Section 49(1) requirement - once they have met that, they can apply. Notice, character requirements are the same for PR as for Residence.
