Default Fixed-term employment contract ended before decision is made on SMC residence application

    Hi all,
I am asking this question on behalf of a friend.
She is employed in a big company and the employment is a fixed-term contract for the duration of 12 months. The SMC application was lodged in March 2018 which is stuck in NSC process. Her contract will end in September 2018. In the worst case that she is not able to secure another job and the decision is not made before the end of the current contract, what will happen then?
    Cheers

Then she will need to update the INZ regarding her situation:

Because obviously she will need to apply either a new visitor or work visa.

Also, INZ would not be able to continue processing her application under SMC, if, without the points for a skilled job, her points total did not reach the 160 minimum requirement.
