    Default Partner Visa

    Dear Forum Members,

Situation - I am planning to get culturally married (arranged) in March-19. I am a NZ resident and working IT industry.

I have gathered some information from immigration website and it seems that relations has to be 12 months old to get the visa.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Regards

Hello and congratulation, You only need proof of 1 year to apply for your spouce residence visa. But once you get married, you can apply for her visitor visa and once she has her visitor visa then you both can collect evidence in new zelaland and then apply for her work and finally partnership based reaidency visa. Hope this help you.

This is not an immigration advice. Just my opinion

Residence requires 12 months of living together.

You may need to consider temporary visas if you wish to bring your new partner to New Zealand

The following links show you the kind of temporary visa which can, if granted, allow your partner to join you in NZ long enough to gather 12 months' evidence for a partner-sponsored residence visa. Notice that, although there is no time mentioned in the criteria for either visa (and the requirements are similar for both), we know from experience that INZ take applications seriously once there is 2 - 3 months' proof of living together.

Thank you so much Sameer. I like the idea of applying visitor visa first and gather evidence required.

    All the best.

    Cheers.

There are specific rules relating to culturally arranged marriages

However, those rules are for if a partner is applying to travel to NZ and hold the wedding ceremony there. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...-visa#criteria If you are intending to marry in another country, they don't apply.
