Default Police certificate for Tourist / Visitor visa

    Hi

Few of my cousins & friends are planning to visit New Zealand for short period of 1-2 months on Visitor visa. The purpose is purely to visit NZ as tourist and meet family / friends. This shall be their first visit to NZ. I am not sponsoring them, they shall apply for visitor visa on their own. I shall only provide my address and contact details in the visa application.

Is Police certificate required for visitor visa?

I visited this link but not yet clear.

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance.

For a short visit like you describe, no, they won't.

See the Evidence button for the Character section here on the INZ fact sheet about Visitor's visas. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...-visa#criteria

Thanks JndM, the evidence section describes the following:

You may need to provide police certificates as proof of your good character.

If you're aged 17 or older and plan to stay in New Zealand for more than 24 months (including any time you have already spent in New Zealand), you must provide police certificates from:

any country you are a citizen of
any country you have spent more than 5 years in since you turned 17.
You don't need to provide police certificates if:

you have provided them to us with an earlier visa application, and
they were issued in the previous 24 months.

I got confused in the wordings. Thanks for clarification.

There are always A LOT of words in the regulations - trying to cover all possible situations, no doubt.
