    Post Interim Visa HELP!

    Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you could help me.

I am currently on a Partnership Work Visa and it is up on 17th January so need to reapply. I am under the impression that I will go straight on to an Interim Visa whilst I await a decision, which is fine, but how soon before the date of expiry do I need to reapply in order to confirm that I will get this? Do INZ just simply need to accept the application - and if so, how long does that take? Or do they need to have accepted it and passed it over to a Case Officer? I am just worrying what with the Christmas Shutdown I suspect they will have and money leading up to Christmas. I was looking to apply in the first week of January (online) but don't know if this is leaving it too late!

    Please help!!

    Thanks in advance

    No need to panic!
Here is my experience with the same kind of visa.
I've submitted docs for my 2nd partnership visa on 12 July and the money was taken the next day. I rang them on the 25 to find out how the interim visa works as I knew that I will be getting one. At this stage, I didn't have a CO. I was told that I will receive the interim visa email just a day or so before my current visa expiry (2 August). On Monday 30 July I went into the system and saw my work visa approved on Friday, 27.
I think that because my case was so straightforward and didn't need any clarifications (2nd partnership visa with a residency application lodged and heaps of proof provided), it was easier to just give me a visa than organise an interim visa first.
This, of course, is my experience and it is quite different for others (I've been waiting for my residency since March and some get it within 8 weeks).

But the point is there's nothing to worry about, the interim visa will be given to you as long as your application has been lodged. Wouldn't make much sense having to have a CO first.

I would still suggest lodging an application ASAP just because they might have delays in lodging with Christmas etc.

ankirs is quite right - as long as your application is lodged while the present visa is still valid, you will get the Interim visa to keep you legal while processing is going on. It has been fine for people who lodged on the last day of validity even, but that is cutting it very fine.

Thank you so much, guys! You've massively put my mind to rest. I have just found out that my chest x-ray expires this week so need to sort that out and then I can apply. Hopefully the first week of January will be fine to do so Like you, Ankirs, this will be my second Partnership Work Visa application so hopefully it should be straight forward too. I have the evidence I used the first time plus extra so fingers crossed it should be a quick process.

    Thanks again.
