Default Information needed regarding school fees.

    Hi All,

I recently got my Essential Skills visa approved(higher skilled) for 5 years. I heard that unless we have the PR approved the schools charge the fees. Also, i heard that if the Visa is granted for more than 2 years then the school education is free.

Can someone help me on the information based on my current visa status? Also, if i need to pay the fees approximately what is the amount?

    Thanks in advance!

If your child has a student visa based on being your dependant, and you hold a valid work visa, s/he will count as a domestic student - that is, will be treated on the same basis as NZ nationals. See paragraph (l) here. https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2013-go545

NZ education is nominally free, but there are payments to be made. https://www.govt.nz/browse/education...and-donations/ Also, although that web page says that you don't have to pay the donations, notice what it says here - this is what REALLY happens. http://www.cab.org.nz/vat/el/school/...outschool.aspx

As to what the amount asked in donations is, it is up to the individual school, and you need to check with the one where you would like to send your child.
