Get a machine out and get them made yourself!!

Seriously, what is it like in NZ for getting hold of material? There are plenty of places locally to us here, and we fully intend taking a load of material in our container, plus lining and fittings/rails etc. Interested in the cost of this.

You get Spotlight and Harveys, they sell various materials, ready made curtains from $40 thin flimsy - $200 reasonable quality.

Jub - unfortunately all our windows are odd sizes - in some rooms they take up the entire wall stretching to around 6-8 metres and in other rooms they are round or other strange shapes! So buying ready mades is very awkward. Plus I want them double or thermal lined to minimise heat loss out of the windows.

StevieD - I haven't yet got around to looking for material so I don't know how available it is, I'll let you know incl. $$. And as for making them myself... I lack the skill and patience and much prefer to let the experts do the job. I've just found a lady advertising in a small local paper so I'll see what she has to offer.

Kat - I may yet be waiting in July!!

What about enquiring in a shop that sells the fabric or in a drycleaners/alterations shop. Sometimes these offer this service.

I think that in Chch both Hubbers (on Blenheim) and Smiths City do a curtain making service.

Ballys might also as they do have a soft furnishings department.

    Or McKenzie and Willis?
