    Default What visa to apply?

Hello everyone! Asking this on behalf of a friend. He completed cooking and baking course and then got a job related to his study as a chef . He applied for a post study employer assisted work visa and got the visa for 2 years as a chef. Now his visa is expiring in 3 months time .

Can he again apply for post study employer assisted visa again? Is it true that he will get it for 3 years now? Or does he have to apply for essential skill visa?

Any answer or help is much appreciated. Thanks again

The rules about Post-Study work visas were changed in November 2018. Here https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...-visa#overview is the factsheet with up-to-date information. One thing it says is this.
You can only apply for this visa once, unless you complete a second higher qualification at bachelor’s degree level or higher.
Therefore, from what you have said about your friend's situation, it looks as though he will have to apply for a temporary work visa, either the Essential Skills visa, or if the employer is accredited, a Talent (Accredited Employer) work visa (which is a work-to-residence visa). See INZ factsheets about the requirements for each of those visas.

Thanks jandM for your reply. I think he has to apply for essential skill visa now.
