Medical Condition
Hi All,
I want to ask for some advice. We applied for resident visa last April and had my full medical here in NZ.After a week, I received an email from INZ health requesting for further test since my tummy is getting big. I had ultrasound and found out that there is a huge mass on my uterus and was referred to a specialist. The specialist requested me to have an MRI and some blood test which I did and thank God, it was just a uterine fibroid. However, the specialist advice me to have a surgery this July. Our problem is that our application will not progress until the surgery was done? Can we apply for medical waiver for our case?
Thank you so much.

Has the MA stated that you will not be assessed as acceptable unless you have the surgery?

Hello JandM,the MA didn't told us yet. We are worrying that it will be the case that they won't assess us unless the surgery is done. Would that be possible?

I can't tell you what the MA is going to decide. They have the power to require more tests and reports, but I don't know about requiring a treatment to be carried out - nobody has posted anything quite like your story on the forum that I can compare with.
What visa do you hold now, and when will it expire? What other NZ visas have you held, if any, and when did the first one start?

Currently holding a student visa and my partner got a work visa. Our visas are valid until end of August. With my case, is it possible for us to apply for medical waiver?

It's all the MA's decision - whether or not to state you are ASH, and if s/he decides not, then whether you can be told to apply for a medical waiver. I understand how hard it is to wait for answers.
I was asking about your previous visas to see if you are already entitled to use the NZ Health Service, but I see that is not the case.
